1933

September 17: Born in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture in Japan as the second youngest son and the youngest of five siblings to father Doukan,
the Shingon Sect Daijizan Gyokusen-ji Head Monk and mother Toku.


1945

August: Returns to Yokohama at the end of the war.


1946

March: Graduates from Yokohama City Ishikawa Elementary School.
April: Enters Kanagawa Prefecture Second Junior High School. Due to educational system reform, the name of school changes to Kanagawa Prefecture
Suiran High School Annex Junior High School.


1949

Starts painting in oils. Receives instructions on Grisaille from Yoshiro Yamaguchi, a painter in Yokohama City.

1950

Accepted into Hama Exhibition. (No. 6.)


1951

January: Accepted into All Japan Student Oil Painting Contest at Mitsukoshi Main Store, Nihonbashi, Tokyo. (Work lost.)
Accepted into Hama Exhibition. (No. 12.)
Forms Hatachi Kai with a group of student painters living in and near Yokohama.
Receives instructions on plaster cast drawing from Shunichi Terada, Tokyo University of the Arts, art department professor living in Yokohama City.
November 11: Mother Toku dies.


1952

June: Accepted into Kanagawa Prefecture Exhibition. (No. 20.)

1953

April: Enters art department at Tokyo University of the Arts, majoring in oil painting. (No. 25.)
Assigned class teachers in school years: 1st Year-1st Semester Shyunichi Terada, 2nd Semester Mamoru Kubo, 2nd Year-Noriyuki Ushijima, 3rd Year-
Mamoru Kubo, during the 4th Year, meets mentor Noriyuki Ushijima through the recognition of the work (No. 30.) submitted to the second year
contest in the class of Ren Ito. The details are in the farewell writing "Teacher Noriyuki Ushijima in me".

1957

March: Graduates from Tokyo University of the Arts. (Graduation work lost in fire.)
April: Enters Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School, majoring in oil painting. (Ren Ito's Class.)

1959

March: Graduates from Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School. Completion work receives Oohashi Prize. (No. 52.)
April: Works as oil painting teacher's assistant at Tokyo University of the Arts art department until March, 1961.
September: Publishes Hands-On Intro to Oil Painting, the process of painting the graduation work with explanations from Ren Ito in art magazine

where the handmade artworks are stored inside Cabinet des Estampes de la Bibliotheque Nationale de Paris. Works studied are: 28 Etchings by
Seghers Hercule, Road of Cross and Hill of Golgotha by unknown artist, 15th century wood carving print painted by hand, 8 drawings by
Dürer Albrecht, 5 Xylographies by Wassiy Kandinsky, etc. Artworks from the time of European study tour till returning to Japan are exhibited
on consignment.
